Julie Saunders

Howdy y'all! This here's the official site of Julie Saunders and Her Manhands. Performing mainly originals, Julie's music is a recipe which blends generous portions of country, with a jigger of bluegrass, and a pinch of rockabilly topped off with a voice like a cool mountain creek. Whether exploring themes of love, vice, or heartache, her songs speak from a place deep in the soul. You can catch Julie playing shows around Vancouver at various reputable (and some not so reputable) venues with her four piece band, The Manhands.

Joo

Starting at the young age of five, Julie's relationship with music developed while playing fiddle and singing in the Saunders' family country-gospel band. The Saunders' spent summers touring around the Kootenays playing festivals and roadsides from the back of a pickup truck with Mom, Dad, and her three siblings, Cheri, Shannon, and Travis. On their album, Tell All the World, Julie found herself the featured vocalist on Teach Me, Oh Lord. Julie's come a long way since then. In 1998, she relocated to Vancouver and spent time playing guitar and singing with bands like Scarecrow, The Julie Andrews, and Shannon Saunders and the Splinters. Now Julie has formed her own band, Julie Saunders and Her Manhands. Julie can be found playing shows around town at venues such as: The Main, The Railway Club, The Marine Club, The Sugar Refinery, and more.
When she's not wrenching our hearts, Julie wrenches on motorbikes and lights up the ice playing hockey with the Ice-o-topes. Her presence on centre has earned her the nickname "Great White".

The Latest

Julie is currently immersed in recording her new CD at Gargoyle Studios. The CD will hopefully be completed soon and will feature a few special guests (you know who you are and thank you very much). We're really excited about it.  We'd also like to extend a huge welcome to latest Manhand, Doug Muir, on drums.  Thanks to everyone who came out to The Main last Friday.  Yee-Haw!
